the first five photos are all in Denver, CO. the next five are on the way to Boulder, CO and in Boulder. Heather and I swept into Denver, meaning we HAD to be the last ones in so it was a super long day since it was a 105 mile ride - My first century(+) ! We made the headwind infested, mountain anticipating, and plain old long day a super fun one. I also saw my first prairie dogs on this long ride.
The day after arriving in denver (6/29), we participated in a huge fundraiser. Corporations got together and raised $10,000 for B&B. all 31 of us B&Bers cycled throughout Denver, on sweet cruiser bikes, in two groups to learn about growing affordable housing organizations. We were provided delicious morning and afternoon meals, goodie bags, and outstanding hospitality. I am happy to hear about the want to help others in this city and also how big into cycling the city is. This is the tiniest synopsis of an amazing time provided by caring people who welcomed us with warm hearts… Thank you - also, Pad Thai at Karma hit the spot. Denver is a fun place
Today we rolled into Boulder, CO with some B&B alumns and the lady, Donna, who basically organized the whole Denver fundraiser - she is a great cyclist. We hit our first steep ascents and descents finally. We are now right next to the rockies and will be climbing them in no time. My excitement for the climbs can barely be contained - no sarcasm whatsoever. If you’re ever in Boulder, Illegal Petes has some great burritos. I like this town better than Denver because it is less busy, right next to the mountains, but it still has a lot to do downtown. Build day with Habitat tomorrow woohoo!!! then off to the mountains
