I am biking across America in order to raise money and awareness for the affordable housing issue. The Central US group and I plan to take off May 21st from Virgina Beach, VA and end up in Canon Beach, OR by July 31st. Along the way we will trade our bikes for hammers and build/repair homes for affordable housing organizations approximately once a week.

jun 19th we rode to lawrence. At one point we were on a paved bicycle trail for ~18 miles. it had flooded so a huge tree had fallen on our trail along with other sticks/mud stuff. after the trail, a few of us went a few miles miles off course but caught up to the front quick. when we took a detour due to a bridge being out, we got stuck in a really bad storm. lightning was hitting fields on either sides of us in the distance and the rain was painful while riding. unlike some, i loved it cause i love storms. then that night at the academy that had a pool, i went to pee around 1:30 in the morning and tripped a super loud alarm for about 10 minutes. everyone woke up haha

yesterday we made it to manhattan, ks after an 86 mile ride. the terrain wasn’t too hilly and when there was wind it was usually a tail wind. got here at 1PM so we have been napping, eating, watching brazil play, and such.

today was our first day off. woke up late, ate free chipotle, watched the dark night, free massages all around, biked into town, more free tasty food provided by our thoughtful hosts, around the world ping pong, and soon to be sleep!

back to the good ol’ routine tomorrow folks
