I am biking across America in order to raise money and awareness for the affordable housing issue. The Central US group and I plan to take off May 21st from Virgina Beach, VA and end up in Canon Beach, OR by July 31st. Along the way we will trade our bikes for hammers and build/repair homes for affordable housing organizations approximately once a week.

Illinois to Missouri sums it up…

Illinois was the epitome of pace lining due to it being flat and somewhat windy. Coming into St. louis was the windiest day yet. A few of us stopped for some good ol wings and pork steaks on the way in. Sarah’s family provided us for two nights at the UMSL college with outstanding food. They introduced me to my very first pork steak yesterday which was delicious! Thank you. After dinner we got to see the Arch which was waaay bigger than I had ever imagined - and it was awesome. My pictures don’t do it justice, but we all know what it looks like. Then we all checked out town. great night

Today we built with Rebuilding Together. I helped take down some fencing, put posts up, put flooring in, and do some other odd jobs such as pressure washing hornets that seemed to be bothering everyone. The families were grateful and we all had fun on the the hot day that ended with a thunderstorm within minutes of us finishing.

off to bed so i can wake up at 5 or 6, put on a kit, pack the 18 gallon tub i live with, eat, clean up, leave on my BIKE, arrive, relax, eat, maybe do some presentations, clean up, hang out, sleep, and repeat. The best routine I have ever know :)
